In a deeply enriching and spiritually elevating educational experience, students of Tagore Senior Secondary School, Mahendergarh visited the sacred city of Kurukshetra to witness and participate in the globally celebrated Geeta Mahotsav — one of India's most significant cultural and spiritual festivals, held annually at the very site where Lord Krishna delivered the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
The experience was extraordinary from the moment the students arrived. Kurukshetra, a city steeped in thousands of years of history, mythology, and spiritual significance, offered an immersive lesson that no classroom, textbook, or digital medium can replicate. Walking the same ground that bore witness to one of the greatest events in the story of Indian civilisation, students felt a profound connection to their cultural roots and the eternal values enshrined in the Gita.
The Geeta Mahotsav exposed students to grand exhibitions showcasing the philosophy, teachings, and universal relevance of the Bhagavad Gita — its messages of duty, righteousness, perseverance, equanimity, and selfless action. Students engaged with scholarly interpretations, artistic representations, and cultural performances that brought the ancient scripture to vivid, living life.
The visit also took students to the iconic heritage sites of Kurukshetra — the Brahma Sarovar, the Jyotisar sacred site (the birthplace of the Gita), Bhadrakali Temple, and the Kurukshetra Panorama & Science Centre, where a breathtaking 360-degree representation of the Mahabharata battlefield left a deep impression on every young visitor.
Teachers guided students thoughtfully throughout, contextualising the historical events, explaining the significance of the Mahotsav, and encouraging students to reflect on the timeless wisdom of the Gita and its relevance to their own lives as students, as citizens, and as human beings.
From the Brahma Sarovar to the Jyotisar, the Geeta Mahotsav visit gave students a rare glimpse into the living heritage of India's most sacred city.
